Beaded Bird Earrings

A few years ago another beader and I were both doing the Uptown Art Fair in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We independently discovered an artist doing detailed miniature wood sculptures. He had a series of small birds which we could imagine using in our own work.

So,we approached the sculptor, Steve Tomashek, and asked him how he would feel about us using a few of his birds in our work. He thought it would be fun, and so Sue and I made a plan to use a bird in a piece before we did another show together. She incorporated a bird in a bracelet and a ring, and my bird series was hatched.
